Transit & Train

Going by transit or train is a great way for commuters to save money as well as wear and tear on their vehicles. And they can use the commute to read or relax.

Employers who accommodate transit find they can expand their labor pool to better recruit workers. They can help employees take advantage of transit by considering whether work hours allow transit use or by using pre-tax purchases of transit passes or TransitCheks®, where these are accepted. Most of the local transit providers below accept TransitCheks®.

Public transportation services in Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties are provided by our six Commuter Services transit partners.

Tax Benefits

Section 132(f) of the Federal tax code enables employers to offer pre-tax purchase of up to $230 per month in qualified train and transit fares.

For employer or commuter help, call Commuter Services at 1.866.579.RIDE or Email us.

TransitCheks are offered by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission and can be used to buy passes on Capital Area Transit, County of Lebanon Transit, rabbittransit, Red Rose Transit, Amtrak, or other services which accept them.

Contact DVRPC at 215-238-2865 or visit www.gettransitchek.org.

What if I Need to Get Home for an Emergency?

By going to the Emergency Ride Home page, you can sign up online and view information about the program.
