Bike to Work 2010 Results



Commuter Services of Pennsylvania has announced its 2010 Bike to Work Week winners. A total of 64 participants logged 4,423.32 miles while commuting by bicycle during the two-week event.

Most Miles Logged

Bryan Hoover


Bryan Hoover of Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County, was the bicycling commuter logging the most miles of all competitors during the recent challenge. Hoover logged 332.5 miles bicycling to his job at Hershey Entertainment and Resorts in Hershey. Hoover won a commuter pack that included a $25 gift card, a water bottle, a bike lock, a tote bag and a T-shirt.

Employer with the Most Participants

Gettysburg College


Gettysburg College, Adams County, won the challenge as the employer with the most participants.

Other winners were randomly selected by county of residence and won commuter packs that included a water bottle, a bike lock, a tote bag and a T-shirt. They were:

Berks County

Joseph Lehman of Douglassville, Berks County, who logged 46 miles bicycling to his job at Carpenter Technology Corporation in Berks County.


Adams County

Jennifer Coale of Gettysburg, Adams County, who logged 53 miles bicycling to her job at Gettysburg College.


Lebanon County

Peggy Schott of Cornwall Borough, Lebanon County, who logged 90.4 miles bicycling to her job at Deer Country Farm and Lawn in Lebanon.


Dauphin County

Joanna Stoms of Susquehanna Township, who logged 50 miles bicycling to her job at Harrisburg Area Community College.


Cumberland County

Bill Yufer of Carlisle, Cumberland County, who logged 34 miles bicycling to his job at Borders Group Inc. in Carlisle.


Lancaster County



Karl Keeler of Akron, Lancaster County, who logged 32 miles bicycling to his job at the Jay Group in Lancaster.


York County

Scott Burford of Springettsbury Township, York County, who logged 173.5 miles bicycling to his job at the County of Dauphin in Harrisburg.


Commuter Services is a program of the non-profit Susquehanna Regional Transportation Partnership, whose board includes the Harrisburg Regional Chamber; the Gettysburg Adams, Lebanon Valley, Greater Chambersburg, and York County Chambers of Commerce; Lancaster and Greater Reading Chambers of Commerce & Industry; Adams County Transit Authority (ACTA); Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority (BARTA), County of Lebanon Transit Authority (LT); Red Rose Transit Authority (RRTA, Lancaster); York County Transportation Authority (rabbittransit); Capital Area Transit (CAT, Cumberland-Dauphin-Harrisburg); Lancaster, Lebanon, Reading Area and York metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs); Harrisburg MPO (Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties) and Adams and Franklin counties Rural Planning Organizations (RPOs). One board seat is also set aside for a corporate executive. Funding is provided by the Federal Highway Administration and PennDOT in partnership with the participating MPOs and RPOs.
